feeling fear

We have all felt it, whether we are watching the film our friend suggested or thinking about the future. Fear is part of our everyday lives. In some ways, it is meant to be – it is natural and is pretty much our brain telling us we are in some kind of danger. The problem starts when our brain starts telling us we should feel scared in situations when we just don’t need to be.

Fear can take on many forms. It can feel mild, but also really intense. We can feel it briefly, and other times it feels like it is never going to leave us.

Remember fear is an important emotion, it can keep you alert in situations where we are in danger. So, it is not about never feeling scared, but instead, training ourselves to feel scared when we actually need to be.

It is important to add here that, if you feel like fear, or anxiety is taking over your life, therapy can help.

Just to be clear, anxiety is not simply feeling scared. There is a difference. Anxiety is when you feel so scared, and so often that begins to affect your life in a big way. It affects your social life, work, school, sleep and everything else. If you feel like it is having a big impact on even just one area of your life, speak to someone about. Getting help nothing to be ashamed of.
