Jealousy can you make angry, sad or even ashamed. It’s never fun. Jealously comes up when you feel threaten by someone. You might feel someone is better than you, or your crush likes someone else. You want what the other person has, you feel jealous.
If you feel jealous here are some things you can do:
When you feel jealous listen to what you are thinking and the feelings in your body. Take a step back, and look the sensations, feelings and thoughts that come up when you feel jealous. You might just find that these feelings and thoughts are actually because of something that happened to you in the past, and now, that experience is making you feel jealous in the present.
Next, talk about it. Find someone who you can talk about your feelings with. Could be a friend, could be a parent. Just make sure this person is relaxed, listens carefully and doesn’t let you feel even more jealous. Remember, sometimes what we feel seems like a bigger deal to us than other people. Don’t forget that when talking about it. It will help you think about your problem more clearly, and you can then act in a better way.
We have to be emotionally mature to deal with the many feelings around jealousy. We sometimes have to fight the voice inside our head saying everything is bad. We also have to try our best not get angry and shot at the person making us jealous. But if we try our best not to do this it will makes us stronger and braver. By learning how to deal with jealousy, we feel better and have better relationships.
