FRIENDS & RELATIONSHIPS

Feeling Left out

Being left out stings, big time. When our friends leave us out it makes us jealous, sad and leaves us feeling as if there is something wrong with us. These emotions are a normal reaction to being left out.

Humans need other people; we look for people who have the same interests and likes as us. When we can’t find this, feeling hurt is normal. This doesn’t make it any easier, but just know it is not only you.

Feeling left out or excluded can make us feel bad about ourselves. If you’re finding it difficult to deal with these feelings alone, we’ve found some resources that may help.

If you are feeling excluded, try to figure out what is making you feel this way. Was it a particular event, like a party or gathering that it seems everyone else was invited to? Or has it been a collection of smaller events?

Once you know what started making you feel this way, try opening up to friends about how you are feeling. Talking to them about how you feel can help. Just remember to choose the right time and place.

Remember, being left out is a bigger reflection on the person who did it and who they are, rather than you.

Change your perspective and uncover a way forward for you!

Here are some things that can help you with that.
